5. Long Range Target Shooting

South Australian Rifle Association is the body that controls Long Range Target Shooting in South Australia. The South Australian Rifle Association has 34 affiliated clubs that operate from 27 rifle ranges throughout the state, including Broken Hill. This allows easy access to this great sport. Our mission is to create a safe and educational environment, promote firearm safety and awareness, and facilitate the sport of Competitive Target Rifle Shooting.

Target Rifle

Shooting at long distances – from 300m up to 1,000m. Shooting from the prone position with peep sights. The rifles are either 308Win or 223Rem calibre. The Commonwealth Games includes this discipline.

F-Class

Target Rifle is usually shot with this. The rifles can be shot in a prone position, but they are allowed to use rests, and sights of any kind (scopes, etc.) are permitted, including F Open, F Standard, and F/TR

Match Rifle

Match Rifle shooting is a long-range target shooting that takes place over distances between 900, 1,000 and 1100 meters or 1000, 1100, and 1200 yards. Match Rifle Shooting begins where full bore target shooting ends!

Service Rifle

You can use any unmodified legal military rifle with a maximum calibre of 8mm. Matches can be fired at distances between 100m and 300m. Magazines are allowed. The Service Rifle matches closely resemble those held in the military.

Sporter Class

It is a newer class of firearms in Australia. This class is for those who shoot sporting/hunting firearms, which are widely available and used by many existing shooters. This is a great opportunity to learn about the challenges of long-range shooting in a safe environment.

6. Alambi Shooting Complex

Do you want to be a founding member of the new SSAA (SA) Allambi Shooting Complex? It is located on Boundary Road, Ettrick Sth Aust. The CBD is just over an hour away. We want to know if you answered yes.

This short survey will ask you about your expectations, needs and desires about this new opportunity.

We are also looking for expressions of interest in forming a Founders Committee of Management. We want to know if you can contribute to the growth and development our sport in this amazing new facility.

We are now preparing to open after completing Phase 1. Below is a list that includes disciplines and activities which we initially offered and others for Phase 2.

You’ll be aware that we’ll have 100m,200m,1000m and shotgun distances if you’ve kept up with the latest news.
